The Origins of the Band

We started getting better together-we all had a lot of the same heroes, musically speaking. I think when we began to inspire each other to reach; a sort of calm unconscious challenge to become better players, we did just that. By early 2007, we were still a little rough around the edges, but we were touching more ground-exploring the boundaries of our collective musical abilities. It was really cool for me that these guys were into my original songs as well as the cover stuff. They have all got a great sense of humor and they're a lot of fun to hang out with. There are never any pretenses: we were raw, but real- and we had lots of material to work with. It got to where I had a least one new song for these guys every week, between writing new ones as well as digging out old forgotten stuff, some of which had never seen the light of the musical day - you know, never played before in a group setting.
I wrote "Chronical Gone" - a rockin' little number which is built totally around this cool guitar riff; I googled the title and because of the intentional mis-spelling, it didn't exist. You see, it's not "Chronicle Gone" like in time keeping, but it's more like "Chronical Gone" is a vague reference to just another human condition we must endure, as in "There ain't no cure for a man with Chronical Gone." For me, it's about being caught-up in the fog of existence, while life outside goes flashing by, out of your control. You're in some sense "Gone" as you vainly try to escape reality, all the while in the back of your mind, you must continue to acknowledge you mortality, and the fact that nothing lasts forever except the earth, the sky and love.
