Download the Free Song called Family of Freinds

FAMILY OF FRIENDS was written in January 1995. These were the Happy, Care Free days of our large group that we referred to as "The Tribe". We were all either old school chums or mutual acquaintances with someone in the Circle that got together every weekend to party and play softball at Fort Lowell Park.

There were kids, and dogs- lots of good grub- We were like a big Family: We all took care of each other and theirs. We Jammed together, went on fantastic camping trips, the whole shebang. Our Leader and Guru was Big John Gibbs. He was the nucleus of our self proclaimed Tribe- He was bestowed with a lot of Heart, unbelievably Generous, and was a Multi-Talented Musician.

We lost John later that Year to a Motorcycle accident. This Song lost all of its charm and joy for me at that point. I usually just played this Solo on Acoustic at gatherings - it was never played in a Band Setting before. After John was gone, the Tribe slowly drifted apart and was never the same. The Tune was lost in the pile, and rediscovered by The Gone one Saturday Night in the Garage. This type of Song probably would never have been played by FLASH FLOOD - it's too much of a Pop Tune, I Guess.

It's really a good "Pick me Up" song, though - One of the Guys said it would make a great Political Campaign Song, but I don't know... I do get a sense of Paul McCartney's Style in the overall musical theory of relativity here with this number; it sounds a little Beatley to me - which is a good thing I suppose... Jack was the one who turned me on to the idea of adding the Tambourine on this one. We're the next generation of what we consider our New Family of Friends... The Tribe's Memory Lives On...

May Your Circle Be Unbroken.
